Cats, Toads, and the Flame Tree

Yesterday, after conducting an Open House for several hours in magnificent Poipu, I needed a break and decided to take a short walk and enjoy the perfect day.  Scattered clouds, brilliant sun, and gentle trade winds greeted me as I locked the condo door and stepped outside to revel in the beauty of Kauai.

Every day  is beautiful beyond belief on this magical place.  With weather unequaled any place on the planet and plant life which constantly astounds our visual senses,  the Garden Island truly exceeds ones expectations for natures perfection.  Yesterday was no exception.
But let's get real here ..
As I took my little stroll, then settled into a seat under the Flame Tree above, a sudden realization surfaced ... No one really gives a Rats Ass about the beautiful places ... it's all about the people who occupy them.  From viewing the Eiffel Tower (which is closed today because of a workers strike) to sitting on magnificent Poipu Beach, no place is special without Humanity.   I'd sit anywhere with a wonderful  Human Being and be a happy man.
Or ... with two cats and a toad

Mom and I were walking this morning and we saw a tree or plant or bush that looked strikingly similar to this flame tree. Is the flame tree unique to Hawaii?

I don't believe the Flame Tree is unique to Hawaii, Dad ... but Hawaiians are. Humanity! Thank you for "stopping by" Bill

When I saw your beautiful photo of the flame tree it reminded me of the 1981 British miniseries, "The Flame Trees of Thika". Hayley Mills plays the role of Elspeth, the little girl in Elspeth Huxley's novel set in Kenya. If you haven't already seen it, it is filled with wonderful characters, i.e. humanity! (Amazing that Fred and Vicious would find so much in common...) Mille mercis.

Haley Mills .. wow, that brings up some memories! I've just Googled her and discovered that, like my own Mother and our dear friend JULES, she is a breast cancer survivor. I'm happy she (and they) are with us. Yes, FRED and Vicious seem to have some unworldly connection .. they stare at one another for long periods of time. So glad you comment, Cynthia .. your reflections are a treat. Am I lucky to have such "in tune" readers or what !! Mahalo et Merci, Bill

Your blogs just seem to hit the nail on the head each and every time! Nature truly is wonderful--not perfect but wonderful. Humans are truly wonderful--not perfect but wonderful. Aren't we lucky to have both with us in this life--and aren't we Blessed to be able to recognize the worth of both. Thank you so much for your blogs!!
SO MUCH

P.S. I made a mistake: Hayley Mills plays the role of the mother of the little girl who portrays Elspeth. I,too, am glad that JULES and Hayley Mills are well and enjoying life!
