Fly Away .. Fly Away

I think I'll take a trip today
fly away .. fly away
to soothe these weary bones and soul
in a place of great repose

My bags are packed with mind and shoes
walk and play .. walk and play
fresh paths afar will give new life
as surely as I stand there

Soft clouds and stars and blazing Sun
Gods' array .. Gods' array
perfection of this travel plan
goes sliding by my window

That dream was then, but this is now
I can say .. I can say
no more was there than anywhere
happiness dwells within us

I close my eyes to make it true
smiles now stay .. smiles now stay
rich clouds appear on skies of blue
no matter where my bones be

I think I'll take a trip today
fly away .. fly away
with peace, tranquility, and love
in spirit of great repose

Peace, tranquility and happiness all come from within. This time of the year it is especially hard to remember as we have so much coming at us at one time. Taking a breath to listen to our heart and soul is love!

Oh, Bill. Your words have stopped me in my tracks today. I love this poem. I often have been one who wanted/needed to “fly away...fly away,” and have, in fact, been checking out airfares (Sante Fe...Sante Fe!!!). Your recent images of the Southwest bring back memories of times there, and today’s photos are beautiful.

Yet your words,

No more was there than anywhere
Happiness dwells within us

strike a deeper understanding of the “getaway impulse,” that relates to the importance of developing our inner lives and knowing that wherever we are, returning home to our true selves is possible. Breath by breath.
