Healing Time

We all have "those" days don't we?  Days when traumatizing "stuff" pops up .. days of internal strife.  Yesterday was one of those days for me.  The "why"  is personal and important only to me, but the action towards sanity, peace, and calm may resonate with each of you.

As most of you know by now, Darlene and I left the island of Kauai for Tucson, Arizona,  located in the magical Sonora Desert and its seemingly endless proximity to miles of wonder in every direction.  Our greatest joy is jumping in the car and exploring, already having ventured as far away as Albuquerque since our arrival in July.  Yesterday was yet another of those exploratory jaunts.

I was deeply hurt by events of the day, bordering on despair, when we climbed into our metal container and pointed it in the predetermined direction.  Little did I realize I was also en-route for a predestined gathering which would have meaningful impact on those recently injured portions of my psyche.   If you are expecting a long winded diatribe against something or someone, don't hold your breath .. it's not my style.  My position is to accept the fact I carry within me, as do all of us, the power of positive insight and it's evil counterpart, self pity, which nurtures negativity.  My reality is mine alone .. mine alone to shape, form, and carry with me through this short physical time referred to as "our life".  Well, yesterday my reality sucked .. we've all been there, yes?

Where it was and how we found it is insignificant to the purpose of this tale, but man oh man did we find the perfect place, that place where Doctor Nature worked her magic .. where birds and trees and deer and blue skies bearing cool breezes touched me so deeply, so profoundly, so perfectly, that within the time it took to saunter one mile through Nature's Perfection, I emerged a calm, joyful, thankful being .. accepting realities I've failed to confront for several years.

Yep, it's a short story .. no need to write a book conveying the message.  The simplicity of healing power which surrounds us on a daily basis is staggering, once our eyes are open, our hearts accepting, our intellect and ego put on hold.  Healing is as easy to accomplish as taking a walk and allowing our bodies and souls to innately absorb and "remember" what is truly important .. "reconnect" with the wonder of this beautiful sphere we were temporarily gifted .. "appreciate and rejoice" in our ability, if we choose, to be one with the nature of this glorious planet.  Understand and accept that every blade of grass and every creature, given the choice, lives a harmonious existence .. harmonious with this place which nurtures us all.  Only we can, and we do, disrupt the balance, choosing discontent over happiness.

Kiss this place which gives us life
 you cannot buy it
 Feel Her gentle touch
Love and Respect Her
It is Healing Time

Much Love from Tucson

Breathe in. Breathe out.
Breathe deep. Breathe slow.
Breathe calm. Breathe release.
Breathe smiles. Breathe let go.
Breathe this moment. Breathe this beautiful moment.

Thanks Bill for sharing your thoughts and observations. 👌🏻

Our thoughts, believing things should be a certain way can play havoc with our soul. Peace comes from within. The Sonoran Desert always amazes how it can bring such healing and calmness.

Karen, The Sonora is indeed a magical place .. soft, powerful, and exhilarating .. and like nature everyplace, it sits there patiently awaiting our participation. Thank you, Karen, for your wise words "Peace comes from within". You are one of the gifts presented by Arizona!

Bill, you followed one of the steps recommended in overcoming grief and that is to "Get Away" whether it is a vacation, a hike or taking a drive. A brief change of pace can help alleviate your problems, bringing some comfort. I hope you have more beautiful days and gradually problems fade away. Writing can be therapeutic, so keep on when you can and feel it contributes to your enjoyment. Beautiful photography! All the best, Debbie
