Aloha et Au revoir!

He lay in the middle of Kaumualii Hiway when I arrived at the office one early morning a few years ago. His nose was broken by the weight of a passing metal monstrosity ... I named him Henry .. Henry sat quietly for several years, his beautifully expressive eyes no doubt taking in the comings and goings of Animated Beings as we performed the "business dance" .. never once thinking the small creature on a desk might actually be entertained by our antics ... His silence was never noticed .. My "child" is reborn in Henry's presence. From day one I felt comfortable petting his soft coat, scratching his head, looking into those "puppy eyes", and speaking to him as if he understood every word and nuance I conveyed ... He patiently absorbs every action .. Henry recently came home with me. He sits quietly on the "creative" side of my home office .. looking directly into my eyes as I explore the muse. When I am turned away from him to ply my trade at the "business" computer, I'm assured he will be awaiting my return .. offering comfort and never ending support to this man/child who forever searches ... for the Henry inside. Henry is alive in each of us ... we will find him ...

WELL, IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!! So glad to finally read another one of your blogs. Did you get your office back, or is that an old pic? Hope you had a wonderful vacation, and that you'll be writing more blogs soon! (you still haven't answered my email)

Sonja! Wow, talk about fast responses .. I barely posted this and there you are. Thank you! This is my home office .. I'm enjoying a beautiful business office in Kapaa. Yes, I suspect I'll be writing prolifically again .. something inside needed the last few months for introspection and realignment. Just returned from Colorado and am departing for France in a couple of weeks. Plan to spend a great deal of time on the keyboard while there. I'll get in touch via personal email tomorrow. Thank You et Merci Beaucoup for your unwavering support. Bill

Ohhh-I love this blog. What is it about a stuffed toy that speaks to each of us? We seem to envision an alter ego just cuddling us along. Dad and I have been aware of "Bear" over the last week or so. He has gone rather neglected except for a brief hug I would give him at night. Then one night here were my pajamas all laid out on top of the covers with Bear's head appropriately arranged on the pillow. Then one night here he was between the pillows, another night actually IN the pillow case with the pillow. He told me he likes the attention up to the point of being buried in the pillow case. So-this morning I let him talk me into carefully helping him climb the light pole and perch atop a light where he can just watch the action. He is now on Dad's side of the bed. He thinks he is hidden! We will see. Bear is rather special! He was given to me by Sister Jan and when she gave him to me she told me she chose him out of all the others in the zoo because his neck flops one direction-as does mine-and she figured I would empathize with him. You can see-I do!

HelloAH, Bill! I was wondering where you were, missed your blogs. I get a wee worried, thinking someone has croaked when they are away so long! Yea! You are kicking, big time: GOING TO FRANCE!!!! Soo jealous! But more, happy for you. Where will you go? I think you should tuck Henri into your bag--he could bring inspiration--you never know. Do let us travel/live vicariously through you and post some pics.

Pat .. how nice to see your name in the comments section! No problems here, only a cerebral/spiritual "growth spurt" over the last few months that leaves me in a most positive state .. ready to continue the forward momentum of creativity. Alas, Henry (aka Henri en français) must hold down the Kauai Fortress upon my departure .. bag space being so limited .. not to mention his inevitable discomfort on such a long trip. He and I will be in "touch" however, and I expect the muse to be stimulated in distance as it is in person. I will stay in an apartment in the Versailles vicinity, as always, and may take a couple of extended drives .. though my purpose for visiting is always to see friends and simply "Be" in France. I'm as happy in "my" local Brasserie .. with familiar sights, sounds, and faces as I am traveling .. in fact, I prefer the feeling of "being at home" in France .. everyday living being so special there. I will post some pics and you are invited to live vicariously through those posts until you return to France for your next adventure. Pat, friends like you are invaluable and I am lucky indeed to enjoy your contact. Merci Beaucoup, Bill

What a wonderful surprise receiving your post in my mail box. Stepping away not only makes some things clearer but much more fun as well. Just love Henry. I am sure he is so glad you rescued him from what would have been his demise. Inspiration comes in all shapes and cuddly sizes. Have a wonderful time in France.

Bill, I am so happy to see you back into blogging! I think of "powering down" occasionally also. I will be looking forward to your France blogs and hope you thoroughly enjoy being in the atmosphere we both love. The picture of Henry seems to suit the Bill I've met through your stories. Henry is now your trademark/mascot, better than the crocodile on those famous shirts since he is lovable. I bought a hand-made doll in a market in France that I could not resist. The tag introduced her as Dawn. Dawn is happy to hang around on my king-size bed now. On Saturday night I study my Bible lesson for Sunday morning on that side of the bed. Always, after my bath I will find Dawn propped up and wearing my glasses with my Bible and study material waiting for me. Jim did this as a prank once, and now he is consistent. Guess I have admitted that we are awfully crazy!

Debbie, Henry sends a hearty "Bonjour" to Dawn and I thank you for your very kind & thoughtful words. As a fellow blogger, you know those words are fuel that powers our creativity and instant gratification that makes the effort amazing and worthwhile. Merci .. Merci .. Merci

I'm glad to hear your "voice" again! Henry has proven to be quite an inspiration. I agree that his eyes are quite expressive, even a bit pensive. Maybe he is thinking he would like to visit Paris since he is perched right underneath a map of Paris "as the bird flies" or some such. My French is quite limited and haphazard. I hope all is well with you. Amitiés, Cynthia
