Hope

Picture

Strutting
proudly displaying obesity
flaunting disdain for discipline
wearing angry arrogance upon faces
attached to the entitled

Rivers of oil
oceans of plastic
faux food which kills as it sustains
air unfit for human consumption
but ain't we cool in our new cars

Our future is bright
for we are the intellect
created superior to all else
we can destroy
then recreate nature in our own selfish image

Our barren globe
devoid of all current life forms
will be populated by incredible domes
water domes  air domes
bio-chemical food domes .. yum

In one dwelling dome
hope
within a child's heart
as eyes of tears
gaze at the last photo of a lone flower

The burning Amazon is weighing heavily on me this week.

I'm with you, Fred. We are destroying one of Earth's most important oxygen producers and replacing it with huge amounts of methane gas, piss, and cow shit .. all so we can continue to enjoy cheap burgers ... will we ever learn? Thank you for your comment on this most important issue. I'm happy to know this post touched at least one person.

Mahalo, Merci, y Muchas Gracias,
Bill

It is so hard to see what is happening to our Earth. Not just the Amazon burning but what we consume and what we do to the oceans. We need our cars, we need to eat, we need to buy things, yes; but do we NEED so much. I ponder this frequently, what is a need and a want. We must start asking those questions.

Ponder those questions, indeed, Karen. One would think we would at least let our hearts lead, guiding us to display some concern for those who follow into the future. It appears Greed has become more prevalent than Compassion and Empathy. But there is always Hope. Thankfully, there are many like you who are awakening to the crisis we have created. Thank you, Karen, for your contribution to higher thought and conscientious practice.

This poem is one of great sadness. Every where I look I feel your poem as it is happening in real time. I spend a goodly amount of time outside each day surrounded by plants, birds, insects, etc. Even though I see far fewer butterflies these days, the black swallowtail still comes to lay her eggs on my parsley plants. Very small events like this can cause you cheer. I hope you find this to be true, also. My best wishes, Cynthia

Yes, Cynthia, I do find these "small events" giving me great joy. Watching the Hummingbirds on our balcony is a bright spot to every day. My Hope is that humanity reconnects with the nature of our planet .. each of us spending solitary time with thatwhich is most important. My Hope is that future humans are the recipients of a mass awakening and protective action which will allow them to enjoy the greatness of what is most important .. nature. We are but a minuscule entity in the overall scheme of whatinhabits the earth, and I Hope we once again become a cooperating species with all other life forms. So nice to get your uplifting message!

Mahalo, Merci, y Muchas Gracias,
Bill
