My Potential

Reflecting on my past ..
mirror cruelly throws reality back at me ..
reality of not achieving what I now understand important ..
past non-accomplishment brutally reflected in the mirror of my eyes.

Painfully beautiful awakening ..
gift of illumination ..
agony transformed to creative energy ..
regret replaced by renewal.

My head arises from putrid depths ..
eyes seeing for the first time ..
soul inhaling newfound sustenance ..
thankfully reinvigorated to higher thinking.

It is there .. It is there ..
written on my mirror ..
my gift to utilize or squander ..
My Potential ..

from Kauai to Paris ... and all places between

We see our reality as it is mirrored in our mind. Our thoughts make us believe things should be done a certain way. Notice those thoughts, they can be changed.

Well said, Karen .. and those thoughts are dictated by our very core essence .. our gift .. our passion. Once "realized" and followed, that personally unique gift will open the portal to our new reality and higher thinking. Thank you so much for this comment.

Yes! Not many of the human family truly lives up to potential. It is brutally painful to face the realization that talent was ignored or squandered. However; perhaps that awakening is the beginning? I think so! I so like the positive paragraph of your fine piece, Billy!!

My Dear Mother .. Yes, I believe this "awakening" is a beginning to the most gratifying portion of our lives .. IF we take Action and display the Courage to follow dictates of the voice coming from our Higher Selves. I am dedicated to this ideal .. thankful I've been given the knowledge and opportunity to awaken within a new creative existence. I love you, Your Son

Maybe it is a good thing that we "look in the mirror" and think that we have not lived up to our potential. We all do this over and over in life if we are honest with ourselves. Then the most important part: to use our gifts and potential as best we can. Thank you for this unique reminder "wrapped" in a poem. My best wishes. P.S. I really enjoyed your last two poems but failed to write a "thank you".

Cynthia .. I am so honored to be followed by you. Thank you, thank you for your support, wisdom, and readership. I am forever grateful for you and all the others .. it keeps my spirit flying and my fingers typing. According to the statistics program that tracks my readers, it appears I have a few thousand who read every post .. but only a very few take a moment to leave a comment .. I can't begin to tell you how special your regular comments make me feel .. A million "Thank You's" for that .. it is what feeds my soul and keeps me at the keyboard.
