Navigating on two wheels

Upon arrival at our Kalaheo Post Office this morning, I was greeted by the sight of this seemingly impossible situation.  Not having time to stay for the outcome, one can only wonder what became of the perplexing situation the motorcycle rider was facing.  Can you imagine coming to check the mail on your moto and discovering you've just received a pile of boxes as large as the moto itself!    How I wish I could have stayed for the final performance.

Moto riders are an amazing breed.  I'm reminded of the daredevil antics of Parisian riders who fly through unbelievably small gaps between cars  at speeds no sane person can fathom.  They are most assuredly the bravest of the brave or the craziest of the crazy.  In either case, they are always the first to reach their destination .. because they dare think big and have no fear of taking actions necessary to get where they are going.

Something tells me the Post Office Moto Rider found a way .. as do most who are brave enough to navigate life on two wheels .. taking that extra risk to be the first arrival at their destination.

Do you think these Moto Maniacs also "unwind" on two wheels of a different genre?   Reveling in  the breeze on their faces while enjoying sights, sounds, and aromas not possible to experience while flying down a highway at supersonic speeds?  Is this the ultimate reward for their bravery?

I choose to envision the perfect day for Moto Riders as a soft and silent ride down the beach on a machine designed for reward and recognition of  a life lived with gusto.  No heavy loads or burdens, only a small basket to carry the essentials for happiness.

Whether you are flying down the highway or peddling down the beach .. live life on two wheels with no fear and you will be the first to reach your goal ...

Hi Bill,

Love your post tonight - funny, about 2 minutes before your post I was looking at bikes on the internet....thanks for moving me up to the scooter. Just what I need for Kristi's place. What is your village - I will look it up on Google Earth.

XOXO

Jules

Jules .. maybe a scooter is what JM parked in the middle of Kristi's living room ! I live in wonderful Kalaheo on beautiful Kauai. Up in the hills where Tradewinds are the air conditioning and roosters are the alarm clock. Glad you liked the post today. Thank You as always for your support and your comments .. greatly appreciated!

Oh to return to the bicycles of yesteryear. The one pictured with the basket on the back is the perfect addition to any villagers dream life.
Mine was blue, had balloon tires and a headlight. The headlight was the result of a choice I made while shopping for bike accessories in my shopping mall-the Montgomery Ward catalog. I was making a choice between a plush seat and a headlight. The latter won. I was the only kid I knew who owned a bicycle light perched proudly in front of the handlebars.
That bike took me on many trips. Up the long hill on the way to Ray Lake, down second street where I could see the tree on the side of the hill with something beneath it that I swore was Ferdinand the Bull, out to the smelly Hot Water Springs where we actually swam in the dirty, water and felt pampered and proud.
That bicycle was my project and my love. Many times I took it apart and carefully lay the screws, etc. out on newspaper to replace in order once each was cleaned.
So, you see, I think bicycles are kings in their 2-wheeled world.
Thank you for stirring up a wonderful memory, Billy
