One Million Dollars

One Million Dollars ..
that is the cost ..
the cost to possess this magnificent home ..
perched above a translucent blue ocean surrounding the Garden Isle.

One Million Dollars ..
to enjoy breathtaking vistas ..
to revel in the soothing  crash of Pacific waves ..
waves churned white as they meet rugged cliffs.

One Million Dollars ..
to sleep with ocean songs gently filling the air ..
forever audibly reverberating
the pulse of life ..
reiterating the Universal Power of creativity.

One Million Dollars ..
for bragging rights inherent only to humans
..
as a beautiful dove sits in total peace .. just outside ..
upon her nest of twigs .. free of charge.

Wishing you the peace of a beautiful dove in 2016 ...

from Kauai to Paris ... and all places between

Oh--This is SO good!!
Yes, the peace of the beautiful dove on a nest of twigs in stark contrast to us--the humonoids--ever seeking for More. For more of everything. I often ponder what God thinks and feels as He casts an eye over his production. But I like to think He can still laugh a bit at our harried pace as He realizes how far we are from the answers we look for. After all-aren't we His handwork?

Thank you, Mom .. that beautiful dove sat motionlessly as I shot 4 photos. I got the feeling she wasn';t motionless because of fear, but was displaying more of a stoic and slightly superior self to the foolish camera laden human. Our intellect is a blessing .. Our intellect is a curse .. when we one day intertwine the gift of intellect with the laws of nature .. what incredible creatures we will be.

Mahalo et Merci for your comment, Mom.

Love,
Your Son

As we pursue our desires for more and more, we may misunderstand the act of achieving. What I hope to realize is that just "to be" is the truest reward. Thank you for noticing the beauty of creation that surrounds us. So grateful we're traveling in the same space and time...with the you and the dove.

Sharon, in this technologically advanced money driven society we "park" in, it is necessary to remind ourselves of true wealth .. peacefulness in nature.

Mahalo et Merci for your comment !

The words: "the best things in life are free" is often said and sung, if you remember old songs. Your lovely photos and prose have reminded us of this so eloquently. Mille Mercis ... I loved today's "edition" of Kauai to Paris

Cynthia .. I, too, like this particular post .. indicative of our humanism and the avoidable predicament we seemingly relish .. greed. The saving grace is that nature never abandons us .. "She" is always there when we awaken enough to partake. We are the luckiest creatures on the planet, and possibly the least grateful .. but what beautiful creatures nonetheless.

Mahalo et Merci for your kind words, Cynthia

To sit, to listen, to just be; can fill us up so much more than stuff. Simple things, like your beautiful photo; remind us.

Karen, there are times when you leave a comment that I just want to stand up, reach my hands to the sky, and fervently exclaim "Testify, Sister, Testify"! Always a pleasure!

Mahalo et Merci for reading my words and sharing yours,
Bill

Your lovely muse just tickled me as I imagined the thoughts of that dove. Loved it!

Sally - funny you mention the "thoughts of that dove" .. I nearly continued on that path with this peace .. but trusting the intellect of my readers, I stuck with the "short and sweet" - "to the point" poetic style format .. knowing all of you would creatively and intelligently inject the proper embellishments. It would be fun, however, to hear "thoughts of that dove" according to each readers perception and imagination.

Mahalo et Merci, Sis .. Love you,
Bill

This reminds me of the feelings I have walking in the forests, alone. The silence may be interrupted by the sound of the wind in the trees, or song birds, but the Q U I E T, I so love the quiet and seeming stillness. Underneath it, of course, is the mighty roar of creation, nature doing its thing. Very busy yet with intention so clear that it doesn't have to blare it out. This is the forest. A healing ground. A mere walk in the woods. Once again, you have reminded me of the mattermost. And I don't avail myself of its healing powers because...?

... because you are human .. we are human .. intellect - free will - and all the positives and negatives which come with that package .. thankfully we don't have to understand it .. thankfully we have nature to balance it. Thank you, Patty, for your beautiful insight.

Mahalo et Merci,
Bill

Hi Bill - not sure how I stumbled across your blog, but I wanted to tell you that I love your pictures and writing. In case you do not remember me, you assisted my ex-husband and me in selling our Kalapaki Villas condo in June 2012 (short sale). I live in beautiful western NC, but miss Kauai; also love Paris.
