Simple Man

I'm a simple man
I watch the flowers grow
the brilliant sunset splendor
pure mountain waters flow

I'm a simple man
a bird song pleases me
the joy of newborn animals
a precious sight to see

I'm a simple man
watching children play
splashing in the waters
of oceans clear .. today

Please, please tell me
tell this simple man
what is more important
than life .. if you can

Is wealth so damned enriching
that breathing can't compare
I beg you, as a simple man,
hear your heart .. save our air

What a truly grand poem! It reminds me of the song: "The world belongs to everyone ... the best things in life are free". This world would be a very different place if everyone were a "simple man" like you. I send my best wishes and thanks yet again.

Cynthia .. Thank you so very much .. wrote this as my response to our pull out from the Paris Accords. What a wonderful world it will be when money is no longer the motivator nor the benefactor of false joy.

Bill

This is such a special poem. As was the previous blog special.
They speak to me and I am a simple woman so I would imagine these words speak to many people. Thank you!

Thank you, Mom. It's astounding that greed continues to rule the day. I think about the old phrase "You can't eat money" .. That some humans are willing to ignore and sacrifice the very nature around us for monetary gain or tribal superiority is so alien to my being that it literally sickens me. I fervently wish for an Awakening.

Bill

I think the majority of us are simple people. Just living our lives, sending our love out into the world and hoping it will be accepted and continued on. Awakening takes time, some say we don't have that much; but I have faith in humanity!!!

I think that there is a deep complexity within this simplicity. And much wisdom too. Mahalo, Bill. Namaste.

Dear Friend .. If there is complexity and wisdom here, it is certainly coming from a much "Higher" place than this simple man. I'm the fortunate recipient of beautiful souls, like yours, who recognize the message.

Mahalo et Merci,
Bill

Sacred Mother Earth, the indigeous tribes viewpoint, will not be forgotten and many who are acutely aware of the danger of these recent actions oppose him. Mind numbing times!

Your poems are affirmations of the importance of life lived with love and respect for all. They do not fall on deaf ears.

Yes, Patty, mind numbing .. but not hopeless. In the end, Mother Earth will triumph. I hope we are here to witness that beautiful time. In the meantime, I intend to enjoy the trees, the rain, and even the off note rooster who stands outside the living room window to serenade me during my "peaceful" morning coffee .. reveling in, and reaffirming our connection to the greater nature surrounding us. We will "win" by focusing on the positive energy .. attempting to be one with it. Thank you, Patty .. thank you.

Mahalo et Merci,
Bill
