Today and Anticipation

WONDERFUL DAY ON KAUAI
Today is a wonderful day.  I  enjoyed driving to the other side of the island  for a trek to Papaya's health food store,   jazz filling the car as Kauai's  awe inspiring beauty provided the always perfect backdrop for happy introspection.

A couple of Kauai grown lemons, two pieces of really nice Kauai grown ginger root, a bunch of Kauai grown apple bananas, and a bag of raw organic almonds from "I don't know where" sat on the passenger seat as I once again "cranked" the jazz  and enjoyed my return trip to Kalaheo.  My surroundings are emerald green, kissed with vibrant colors, enhanced with heady aromas, and always breathing  the steady pulse of  beautiful blue waters.

Todays "Health Food Store Junket" was enough, and more, to put a smile on anyone's face.  Really, who is so blessed to have that simply magnificent experience on one of Earth's rare gems?  I do realize I am by any measure a very fortunate man.  With that realization,  I consciously make it a point to perpetually remind myself against ever taking  this present circumstance for granted.

If  the above facts weren't enough to create a "here and now" that is beyond incredible, then I am doubly blessed.  Today is also enhanced by anticipation for upcoming events.  I fly to France in less than a week .. returning to that other perfect place necessary for my soul's balance.
 Today is a wonderful day.

I wish each of you your own wonderful day .. filled with positive anticipation for tomorrow ... always tempered with compassion and empathy for those who are not so fortunate ...

Aloha et Au revoir,

It's wonderful, in itself, the way you are still "wowed" by the beauty of Kauai as you drive across the island (after living there for years). This appreciation you share with your readers and thereby give us a real feel for the beauty ... down to a Kauai grown ginger root! Thanks so much. Have a most enjoyable "séjour en France". Bon voyage, Cynthia

Aah, Bill, tooling down the highway, drinking in the riches of our maman Gaia, from your luscious Hawaiian isle. What a beautiful picture your words evoke! Today I had a similar experience, tooling around the crazy curvy, sometimes one-lane roads in the Jefferson Natl Forest in SW Va. Today an adventure, new destination: the Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory for the fall migration. The hike to it was nothing short of magical--the verdant green forest with mosses & ferns spread out below the canopy. I would have taken it in stride to bump into a gnome or fairy. No one else on trail (now that's a special magic of its own!), a nice cooling breeze whispering through. Peace.

Jaw-dropping view of the observatory built on the over hanging rocks, and we were there. The mists continued to hang as well, so, alas, no raptor sighting--tho earlier a bald eagle had passed through.

I am ever grateful for the beautiful place where I live, and also look forward to exploring other places. France always beckons. Lately I dream of walking in the Scottish lowlands. I wonder, if & when I do, will auld Alba be independent, with Wallace's great cry of "FREEDOM!" ringing out, or will she continue under the greater Britain banner?

Whatever, wherever it is a beautiful world...

Bon voyage, Bill.

Pat, beautifully described and perfectly "capped off" with the phrase "Whatever, wherever it is a beautiful world...". Thank you, Pat, for sharing and helping me appreciate our world even more through your words. Aloha et Au revoir! Bill

What an amazing description of your beautiful island paradise. I must admit I am a bit jealous!! The summer is winding down here in Phoenix and as I look for the cooler temps to roll in, the desert will be alive again. With the enormous amount of rain we have had, for Phoenix that is, I look forward to all the colors it will bring to the Valley of the Sun. The anticipation is very exciting!
