fashioned the perfect message
symmetry and colors
"look at me!" it screams
"ain't I cool!"

Ego ..
on a two by three and a half inch glossy exclamation
declaring expertise
defiant
challenging any and all doubters

It is there
before your eyes
physical entity
proof of classification
substantiating exactly who I am

irrefutable evidence
that I too am brilliant
by association

Yesterday I reached for a card
confidently awaiting the impressed look
as I produced my bona fide credential
I didn't have one
I don't exist

Oh so true, Karen. Maybe if we all throw away our business cards we can out trick Tricky Ego as he heads to the dump! But what would we do for Self Identity when he is no longer "in our pocket" ?!! lol
