I made a Statement yesterday, May 3, 2013.  My statement was that I am committing to walk 4 miles every day.   Click here to view that post and my statement.  After publishing my Statement, I immediately went on a walk .. a walk of 2 miles.  Gotta say, it felt great!

Upon awakening this morning I realized I would need to provide "full disclosure" to my readers and let you know I did not walk the full 4 miles yesterday.  I also realized if one makes statements concerning a goal that is to be met daily .. one has really put himself in a position of accountability for accomplishing those goals and fulfilling the terms of his statement.

Dear Reader .. I reiterate my Statement & Goal:  I will walk 4 miles every day.

A person is only as good as their word.  I set myself up to be accountable, and I am going to be accountable .. to you and to myself.

I invite you again to join my "Walk it Off" commitment .. it's free, it's healthy, it's good for body & soul.  Please know this is an invitation - not a challenge - I invite you to come take a walk with me and Walk it Off ...

Starting off walking 4 miles a day after (I'm assuming) not walking for a while is a pretty big jump. I think 2 miles a day is a very realistic start, especially for someone "your age" LOL. Plus, if you're just walking for 4 miles without jogging some of it, it might take you 2 hours; do you have that kind of time? I wish you all the luck in the world at fulfilling your quest. You have an amazing spot in the world to fulfill your commitment. Wish I was there with you! Have fun. :-) I'll think of you when I take my country walks.

Sonja .. how nice to see your comment! I am MAKING the time, and in the process rediscovering how much time we have available once we pull ourselves away from computers, televisions, and smart phones. After two days of getting out there, it is amazing how the energy level jumps up. What was that about age .. can't hear ya .. let me hobble across the living room, plug in my hearing aid, and put on the bi-focales :-) So nice hearing from you! Thanks for your comments and enjoy your walk!! Bill

I hear you, Bill. It's not easy to pull ourselves away from our electronic devices. I wanted to tell you about my walk/jog this morning. I decided to change my attitude, and instead of "getting through" it, I gave thanks for another day without fire, and noticed the cool breeze that was in the air. I watched all the different species of birds, answering their call when I could. A green finch sat on a branch two feet from me, and let me watch it for about a minute, and a hummingbird that was perched on one of our cypress trees circled my head as it took off. I noticed the grapes beginning to grow on the vines in our vineyard, and noticed the magnolias getting ready to bloom. And instead of thinking about what I was going to do next, I lived in the moment, and enjoyed our beautiful oasis in the desert. So thank you, Bill, for reminding me to appreciate the beauty that is all around me, even in this hot, dry desert.

Beautifully stated Sonja ... I wish you many, many walks just like the one you've so aptly described. Aloha!
