Bird in a Gilded Cage

THEY KNOW THEIR GIFT AND THEY GIVE THEIR BEAUTY .. FREE OF CHARGE
Like the 1900's ballad about a beautiful young woman who married for money and not for love,  today I feel the pain of being "married" to the pursuit of money, which separates me from having complete freedom to spread my wings at a moments notice and completely embrace the creative passion felt from an ever growing inner voice.  Today I want to buy a ticket to Paris,  jump on the next aluminium transport, and feel the spirit of my favourite city tomorrow morning .. draw iced cold air into my lungs and call a dear friend to join me for baguette et café crème.  It has been over a year, and that is much too long a period to be away ... much too long.

Like the Bird in a Gilded Cage, we are all subject to the affect of our actions in this short life.  The plane is at the gate .. available and ready .. simply waiting for us to  listen, hear, and act  upon our individualized message from that Higher Place.  As I've stated many times before,  I'm not there yet .. but I've certainly got my eye on the prize and joy of creativity will be mine!

From the many messages I receive and the amazing content of those messages,  I know there are long lines of us who are looking inward, searching for our personal gifts and  answers which will  lead us to a self realized, creative, and joyous existence.

Pilot,  keep that airplane at the ready .. I'm about to climb aboard .. as are many, many others.  There's a "Movement" afoot .. a new awakening to the Creative Spirit inside every Man, Woman, and Child .. a newfound realization that we are meant to find and share our unique personal gifts as we spend this miniscule moment of physical life with one another.  So, Pilot, keep your foot on the brake and be patient with us .. we are all anxious to get aboard and free every Bird in a Gilded Cage ....

My intent with this new  LOOKING BACK  section is to start from the first ever post and share one past writing with you.   I do hope you will find this  experience enjoyable.  My first post was about my refugee cat Baby .. please click on her name or the link below and Enjoy!

Two and a half years already? How time flies, especially when you're getting older. I do love your blog and its beautiful messages. I had a thought the other day that I wanted to share with you. We all go through this life, hoping to find "it"; that which will fulfill us, and make us whole. Many of us, myself and Horace included, have never known what we want to be or do "when we grow up". At 55, I'm still searching for that special something that will pull me in with passion. But last week as I was thinking about this, I thought to myself, maybe I've already done that wondrous thing that will fulfill me, but I just don't recognize it, because it seems so simple. Maybe what I was put on this earth for was to raise and nurture my son to reach his full potential. Neither Horace nor I had that kind of influence in our lives, and we've been floating through, looking for a definitive purpose. But we have made and have been raising this incredible human being; one filled with love, compassion, strength, and also already full with passion for his life. If all I get out of this life is that I have raised an amazing human being, one who is sensitive to the world and willing to find his way to make it a better place, is that enough? I wonder......

What a beautiful response, Sonja ... I am so fortunate to enjoy the company of people like you. Your Son is a very lucky boy, indeed. Mahalo et Merci for this comment ... you truly gave me "chicken skin".

Thanks, Bill, but I think that Horace and I are the lucky ones. I don't know whether I have ever told you this story, so sorry if I'm repeating myself. When Nick was an infant, probably no more than a few weeks old, I was sitting on the couch holding him, when I looked down into his face. He was looking at me with a look so piercing, it was as if he was searching for my soul. It shocked me and filled me with wonder. So many times you look into a baby's eyes, and other than seeing their beauty, you don't see much behind them. This was truly different. He did the same thing to Horace when they were in the car, coming home from work. We truly believe that we are raising an "old soul". When Nick was just 3 years old, we came back to Monterey for a visit, and went to visit my friend Jackie. Nick wanted to stay in the car, so we went in. After a couple of minutes, I told Horace to go and get Nick, and he found him talking and looking at the side of his car seat. When Horace asked him what he was doing, he said he was reading, and proceeded to "read" the french translation of the directions on his car seat. What shocked Horace was that it actually sounded like he was speaking French! Of course he never did it again, but maybe we're raising an old French soul. :-)

Another great segment. I know how much you want to spread your wings and fly away to your beloved France, and how reality keeps getting in your way. Hang in there - hopefully one of these days you will be able to do as you please and still keep the wolf away from the door.
